Just read in an internet news this morning that Michael Jordan created quite a stir in a San Francisco golf course for his tobacco smoking, which is prohibited on the course. Said he is going to be slapped a $100 fine for the violation, which we all know will not cause any dent in the wealthy sportsman's deep pocket.

My sons and I are big fans of this legendary basketball icon. What he does starts a trend. Remember the bald head and the knee length basketball shorts? Didn't Jordan influence and kept these enduring trends alive by his personal example? Nike admittedly got a big boosts in its sales due to his commercial endorsements.

And now we see Jordan strutting around puffing a cigar. I don't know when he started with cigar smoking, but I've already read some articles in the recent past about it. I'm not really sure if Jordan is fully aware of the bad effects of smoking on our health and that he might be unconsciously endorsing cigar smoking, but I fear that his avid fans and admirers might pick up the habit without him saying a word. And there are legions of them!

I'm still an admirer of the guy, but I am worried about the probable deleterious consequences of cigar smoking on his health and those of the multitude of die-hard Jordanites who might follow suit.

Who says you can't quit smoking?
