Costume parties are really making a comeback lately. Everyone seems to enjoy taking a break from reality, throwing on an outfit that's completely out of character, and dancing the night away with good friends. If you have been invited to one of these parties, you might have noticed that there is often a theme. A vampire ball might require some sort of gothic garb, while a disco dance will obviously call for a 70s fancy dress; but where will you find this kind of outfit?

If you're looking for gothic themed apparel, you're in luck. Even the local stores are carrying costumes that fit the bill, due to some recent vampire flicks that have taken the world by storm. Whether you decide to wear something black, lacey or glittery, you will likely be able to adapt an outfit to go with this theme. A little white powder on the face, along with smoky eyes and red lips completes the design. If the event is retro..Well, this type of outfit just will not work. You need to find an incredible 70s fancy dress.

The nineteen seventies were filled with music, intense colors, sequins and disco balls. The brighter it was, the better. If it had a combination of glitter and spandex, it was perfect. Bright and shiny seemed to stand out above all else as a common theme. The perfect 70s fancy dress would have been something that was form fitting on top, had lots of sparkles and possibly even came in gold. This is going to be a little harder to find than vampire themed attire, but it's absolutely feasible.

Do not bother to check locally as you'll most definitely be wasting your time. The best place to look for something as distinctive as a 70s fancy dress is over the internet. Within your quest, you will find many styles. Personal preference can aid in your decision. After you have decided on an excellent outfit, it's a must to consider your hair. The iconic Farrah Fawcett feathered hair was the "do" de jour in that era. Make up was feminine and shimmery, never too heavy handed; that didn't come into play until the eighties.

Whatever kind of costume party you're going to, be sure to have fun with it. Too often, people take these events too seriously. This is not a company meeting, this is supposed to be a time for you to let loose, relax and enjoy yourself. Forget about keeping up appearances for one night and just let yourself get into the groove. Don't let nagging doubts creep into your head; many people think they is going to be the only ones who show up in costume, but ordinarily, everyone does get dolled up (yes, even in that gold and shimmery 70s fancy dress). In fact, it is the odd couple who chooses not to come in costume that inevitably winds up feeling out of place. You will find that these costume parties could be an absolute blast if you just give in to you inhibitions and take pleasure in the night! - 39969
